Tuning fork therapy

What it is about

Tuning Fork Therapy is a very gentle, yet powerful modality to treat the body and mind and restore inner balance and health. It works with the nervous system, the tissues and the more subtle energies of the body. It is deeply relaxing and restoring and can offer long-term benefits.1

PRACTICE

Generally, there are two ways in which you can practice Tuning Fork Therapy.

The home treatment includes the appliance of Tuning Forks at home; on yourself, friends and family. For example as a meditation aid or as a quick way to ease anxiety, stress or negative thoughts.

Alternatively, Tuning Forks are utilized by professional tuning fork therapists who offer a thorough treatment to battle a variety of issues such as:

  • Chronic pain
  • Exhaustion
  • Hypersensitive nervous system
  • Headaches
  • Pain caused by physical trauma
  • Insomnia or low-quality sleep
  • Joint problems
  • Cramps
  • Digestive problems

Besides being a deeply effective form of treatment itself, Tuning Fork Therapy can also be a powerful support to integrate other healing modalities such as physiotherapy, massage therapy, chiropractic and psychotherapy. Sound’s ability to interact with the more subtle structures of our beings can assist the shifting of stuck energies at many levels.2

First time use

Before you start any Tuning Fork session, there are a few things worth paying attention to in order to make the most of any session.

  • Think of specific areas of tension (physically, mentally, spiritually, emotionally) that you would like to focus on before the session begins.
  • Begin any session open-minded and have faith that sometimes results can turn out better than you originally hoped.
  • Be conscious of your goals and intentions for each session.
  • Be prepared to drink plenty of water afterwards, as the vibrations from the Tuning Forks can prompt self-healing mechanisms in the body.3

If you are prepared you will be able to enjoy the session and its results to their full extend.

How to start

To begin, the Tuning Fork has to be brought to a vibrating state. It is quite common practice to hit your patella (knee cap) lightly. As the most convenient way to activate, we recommend using a rubber mallet, e.g. our Professional Mallet SB-PM-SR-S. Once the Tuning Fork has been struck, you will feel light vibrations through the handle and hear an audible pitch. Generally speaking the larger the Tuning Fork and the harder the stroke, the longer it’s sustain.

Whilst the Tuning Fork is vibrating try placing the stem onto different parts of your body. We recommend the top of your head or your sternum. You will feel the vibrations pass through your bones and tissues surrounding the point of placement.

You can place the stem of the activated Tuning Fork on the articulations and bones if you want to restore flexibility and movement as well as aid in the development of the connective tissue. They achieve this by stimulating the flow of blood and lymph to the area of application; thereby, speeding up the healing process.4

Acupressure

For optimal results we recommend to seek help from a professional Tuning Fork practitioner.

If you have a certain issue you want the Tuning Fork treatment to battle, this therapy can aid similarly to acupuncture treatments, by using the same philosophy and pressure points throughout the body. You can try them yourself.

For this you need to follow the steps mentioned earlier and press the stem of the Tuning Fork onto different pressure points on your body to achieve different goals and combat various issues that compromise your wellbeing.

There is a wide range of information on pressure points and relives associated with these available.

Here is a small selection of points for you to try out, but feel free to seek other sources to expand your knowledge on the benefits acupuncture using a Tuning Fork can bring to you.

Allergies

It is impossible to take all possible allergy symptoms into account. Nor can the phonophoresis cure allergies but it is an effective system to ease various symptoms. The suggested energy points aid the body in harmonizing and stabilizing as well as the prevention and activation of the self-healing powers.5

A specific treatment for these issues can be applied by addressing the energy points 91, 92 and 107. Depending on the symptoms of the allergy.

Point 91 is located on the inner edge of ones eyebrows. This point focuses on the easement of symptoms involving the eyes such as excessive tear production due to allergies.

Point 92 is located at the lower end of the nostrils at the lowest point between nostrils and cheeks. This point provides relieve in the case of affection of the nose.

Point 107 is located below the skull base. On each side in the groove between the vertical neck muscles SCM and Trapezius. This point can ease headaches, irritability nausea and inner unease.6

This is just a small collection of points that can ease the consequences of allergic reactions when triggered by a Tuning Fork.

Trouble Sleeping

Another common area of application is easement of sleep disorder.

Sleepiness during the day, fatigue, trouble concentrating, drained energy resources and increased pain reception are just a few symptoms associated with sleep disorder.

In this case Tuning Forks can also help ease trouble sleeping and prevent those symptoms from effecting ones day to day life.

Energy points suitable to assist easement of such issues are energy points 90, 105, and 28.

Point 90 is located in the grooves between the eyebrows and between the nasal root and middle of the forehead. This point is known for aiding to calm one’s body, mind, and soul and preparing it for a restful and healthy sleep.

Point 105 is located on the very top of one’s skull in a little grove in the middle of the lines connecting the tips of both ears. This point can relieve trouble sleeping, anxiety, and nausea.

Point 28 is located the width of four fingers below the patella (kneecap) on the outside of the leg.

This point can stabilize and strengthen the entire body. This is particularly helpful in the case of fatigue and trouble sleeping as it decreases unease anxiousness.

Master Fork (256 Hz)

A loving heart vibrates at 8 Hz. In order to make this frequency audible in music theory terms it has to be octaved, which means doubling the Hz over and over again until it reaches a level audible for the human ear. In this case: 16, 32, 64, 128 and 256. Moreover, this is the measured frequency of healers during their practice, in symbolic terms this frequency stands for “frequency of the new time”.7
